About the Dream!

Stilldream was formed in June of 2000, by a group of like minded individuals from the Sierra Foothills, and Sacramento, interested in the preservation of events of an earthy, intimate nature, which were becoming more and more scarce at the time. A common love for music, community, nature, culture, and consciousness has enouraged us all to unite and give back to the community that has always given us love, inspiration and provided growth. In the short years of our existence, Stilldream has gone from throwing intimate parties for our friends in a barn, to inviting thousands to take a part in our events in venues with decades of rich musical history. Since the beginning, Stilldream has gone from us all trying to see where we could take it, to realizing that Stilldream itself has indeed been taking us all on a ride that we could have never imagined so many years ago. We continue to look forward to the evolution of our events, as well as the many new faces who believe in the dream and help us push it forward every year. We hope you enjoy your stay!

What is a Stilldream?

Stilldream has many meanings and can be different for every person. Here are a collection of ideas about the event and the meaning behind Stilldream.

As much of Stilldream is dedicated to music and art, Stilldream is also dedicated to adding more spirituality into one’s life. Stilldream is the forming of two words, still, and dream. Still as in remaining in place or at rest; motionless; stationary. Dream as in a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind, an involuntary vision occurring to a person during sleep or while awake.

When the two words are combined it becomes “A stationary vision occurring to a person during sleep or while awake”.

Sometimes when asked about Stilldream or how to sum it up we say it is better to describe Stilldream with more descriptive words because one statement or definition can’t sum it all up. The 5 words that best describe Stilldream to us are: Music, Community, Nature, Culture and Consciousness.

Another way of looking at it. As we grow up we have dreams that seem so attainable. Sometimes these visions can fade over time, sometimes we get caught up so much in our daily lives that we forget about our aspirations and dreams. Bogged down by the daily toil they seem to leave us or become transparent. Stilldream is a place where these dreams seem to rematerialize and become vibrant again. Sending you back into your daily lives with a sense of purpose and yearning to be more than a sum of your parts. If your attention wanders just remember the creed, “I can Stilldream!”

When you sit at Stilldream, take in the people from all over the country that become a small family and community for one weekend a year, stopping to take in the moments such as the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the beauty’s and triumphs of projects that take months and months of planning that have come together. As dusk falls you just can’t help but know that you aren’t alone. You’re a part of something bigger than yourself. Whether you take that as being a part of the family or something universal it is undeniable.

Stilldream is a sacred event. A gathering of spirits, a place to exchange ideas and embrace each other’s differences, more than embrace, but celebrate them for they are what makes us all unique.
